by USAA as a Best Value

USAA, a leading financial services provider to the U.S. military community and its families, named the 2013 Audi A4 to its third annual Best Value vehicles list. The Best Value list identifies the top 2013 automobiles in 16 categories that offer affordability, safety and reliability. The 2013 Audi A4 was named best Midsize Luxury Sedan.

Best Value automobiles offer the best financial value of all vehicles USAA evaluates as part of a broader rating system called USAA Preferred, which uses quantitative data to evaluate vehicles' cost, safety and reliability, among other key factors. There are nearly 70 cars, trucks and minivans that are currently designated as USAA Preferred vehicles, and the Best Value list represents the vehicles that rose to the top of each category.

2013 J.D. Power APEAL Study

  • 2013 Audi allroad receives award for Highest Ranked Compact Premium CUV
  • Five additional Audi models place among the top three in their segments: Audi A4/A5, A6, A8, Q5 and Q7
  • Audi brand improves APEAL rank position by two spots to 2nd overall

Audi achieved its highest score ever and placed second among nameplates in the annual J.D. Power U.S. APEAL (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) Study. The brand posted a total APEAL score of 857, 62 points above the industry average ? and moved up two positions to rank 2nd out of 33 nameplates in the U.S. industry. Additionally, the 2013 Audi allroad ranked highest in its segment. This is the 18th year of the J.D. Power APEAL Study, which examines drivers' assessments of the design, content, layout, and performance of their new vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership.

For the second consecutive year, we're bellying up for a helping of Audi's alphanumeric soup. To the "As" and "6s" and "7s" from the A6 3.0T and A7 models that made the list last year, we're happy to see a couple of?hot "Ss" float to the top in 2013. For the S6 and S7, Audi takes the "A" models' rich mix of virtues and turns it lethal, thanks in no small part to a 420-hp, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8. In a recent comparison test, the S6 put the hurt on the vastly more powerful BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. On the road, the S6 is an inexhaustible cannon, more cohesive and less fiddly than cars costing an additional $20,000. Audi's modus operandi for the non-S varieties is basically the same, minus 110 horsepower. Understated bodies cover stout structures into which Audi crafts beautiful and sensible interiors, without unnecessary complication. Combine that with an unflappable chassis, accurate steering, ample power, and a general sense of quality and you have an unbeatable luxury/sports-car range.

While we're not sure Windsor Castle would approve, we know it would play well on California's 101.
